What is a RUSH Packet?
A rush packet or recruitment packet is a Personalized two pocket folder. Inside each folder is a personalized resume we type and design for you, personalized Stationary, your senior casual photo with a personalized Name sticker on the back, 1 large magazine sized envelope for mailing your rush packet to the sorority house in, a confirmation postcard each alumnae will mail back to you when they have completed your recommendation or letter, a copy of your transcript, and an instruction letter for the rec/ letter writer. This is a well organized way to deliver your information to the alumnae writing your rec. Everything the writer needs will be included in the packet.
What do senior casual photos mean?
For resumes, a casual waist/chest up photo is used to help the sorority recognize you when going through recruitment. You may use your drape picture if you prefer. Most girls use a casual photo because they look the most like themselves. Keep background simple (green foliage, tree, wall of a house of building, beach) If you are not using a photographer to order your prints, MPIX.com is a great site, locally we like to support Deville Camera Shop in Jackson, MS. Deville has an online site anyone can upload their pictures and we can pick them up for you. Please request matte finish and wallet size photos. Do NOT use walgreens or cvs because they do a smaller version of a wallet photo and they are a gloss finish which does not reproduce well for this purpose. The sororities make copies of your photo for a slideshow and posters around the sorority houses. NOTE: check your school panhellenic website for the size photo they prefer. Most schools prefer wallet size but Univ. of Alabama, Auburn, University of TN at Knoxville, TCU, and LSU prefer 2-3 4 x 6 photos.
When do I ask alumna to write my recs?
Have your daughter not the parent ask the alumnae to write them a recommendation in March. If they offer now, keep a list in your notes section on your phone with the name of the sorority they were a member of. It is polite to always say yes if someone offers to write one for you! You must always write a thank you note afterwards. This takes the alumnae a lot of time to fill out the forms for you. Be appreciative and write a nice thank you note to show your appreciation.
What is a "rec"?
Rec is an abbreviation for a Letter of recommendation or (LOR) This is a form and alumnae fills out with the information you have given them on your resume. It’s similar to a college application or job application. The most important thing is find someone that KNOWS you to write it if you can. There is usually a question that says “Do you know this girl?’ Anytime you know someone, you are going to write a better recommendation. RECs are required by sororities at most schools. Look on your college’s Greek section to see if your College requires them. If it says yes then get them!! Most sororities release or “cut” girls after the first day that either do not have a rec or do not meet the school’s grade requirements.
What is a PNM?
PNM stands forPotential New Member, and refers to a college student who is interested in joining a sorority and is participating in the recruitment process. The recruitment process is also known as "rush".
How many recs do I need?
We recommend getting two recommendations / sorority because even though many universities say no need to get recs we will get them if we need them thats not true. Todays sororities are too large for the rush teams to get reds for girls. Each sorority needs one rec or many have to release the PNM after the first round of recruitment. Because this is so important, we suggest getting two just in case one doesn't make it there.
I submitted my resume and I need to add items. What do I do?

"You all were so helpful with my daughter all year preparing not only her but me for Ole Miss sorority recruitment. She was the only girl from her high school attending and very unfamiliar with what all was involved in recruitment. Her resume packet was beautiful! Your advice was priceless. I HIGHLY recommend you to everyone!"

"We found out about Rushed through a friend and immediately knew it would be a perfect fit for us. Little did we know that Weezie and I would meet though your instagram. We instantly decided to become roommates and it allowed us to make so many connections with girls from in and out of state that were coming to Ole Miss! On top of that it helped take the pressure off our parents by helping us create a professional recruitment packet."
